Interesting article on How New media brings burma to the eye of the world.
In 1988 monks, civilians and students poured on to the streets in the tens of thousands calling for human rights and democracy. The protests were brutally crushed, with the military rulers giving orders for shots to be fired directly into the crowd rather than in the air.
History is repeating itself and similar protest is taking place all across Burma, a country where internet policies is one of the most repressive. Yet, there are some citizen journalist who are risking their life and using internet and mobile phone to blog about their protest. Thanks to New media.
We need to make such army of citizen bloggers all over the world. Let nobody’s voice be restricted due to tecnical limitations. If I could, and if they could, I would even teach blogging to the animal kingdom.
